Swiss Gear Tents

For the serious camping traveller, a serious camping tent is required. Quality is important as a well constructed tent will last a very long time indeed.

Known for their quality of watches and knives, Swiss Gear Tents are no exception and can handle anything nature chooses to throw at them.

Swiss Gear tents are made by a company called Wenger, whose perhaps most well known product is the Swiss Army Knife. Wenger specialise in outdoor products, and tents are prominent on their list.

The range of Swiss Gear tents is large and includes the Swiss Gear Elite Series 3 Room tents. Wenger claim that this Swiss Gear tent can accommodate up to 12 people! It has 361 square feet of space, making it one of the largest camping tents manufactured today. It is a Dome tent in style and has 3 rooms inside, together with dividing curtains so that the whole thing can be arranged so that everyone has their own privacy.

Camping used to be all about crawling into a tight and cosy tent, somehow squeezing in all ones equipment and clothing. After fighting to pitch the tent it was often very cosy, but often not that comfortable once the initial fun had worn off.

Not so with these Swiss Gear tents. This is the luxury end of the market, intended to allow a family with children to take off and enjoy an almost home from home existence. The centre of the tent is 7 feet in height  and despite the tent being a dome, the sheer size of the tent means that height is not an issue for those who like to walk tall in their tented kingdom!

Pitching this tent is easy by comparison to some large tents. The poles are all color coded as well as the sleeves and the tent comes with an easy to follow instruction guide.

This Swiss Gear tent also has what they call an “e port”, which gives waterproof electrical cord access, very useful.

Other useful touches include a Swissguard weather protection coating, which keeps the inside of the tent dry, a unique weather protection system that keeps the tent stable in high winds and separate doors to all three rooms so you need never disturb others who may be sleeping.

The tent base is 19 feet square.
